of mutual concern

Fernando Ramirez and Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki here on
Sunday conferred on matters of mutual concern.
According to
a report released by the Foreign Ministry's Public Relations Department,
at the meeting Mottaki referred to Iran-Cuba friendly relations
as an example of solidarity between the two justice-seeking and
freedom-seeking nations.
The foreign
minister pointed to the continuously growing trend of bilateral
ties between the two governments and said that there are more extensive
and diverse capacities for further cooperation.
Turning to the
membership of both countries in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) as
a favorable ground for collaboration at the international level,
he said, "Seeking justice is the common feature of all the
world's freedom-seeking nations Based on this fundamental principle,
Iran, Cuba and other NAM member states can start extensive cooperation
and modern movements at the international level.
For his part,
Ramirez expressed the interest of his government and people in strengthening
political ties with Iran and hoped that cooperation and solidarity
between the two countries will be more lasting.
He declared
Cuba's support for Iran's right to access nuclear energy for peaceful
purposes and its belief that Iran will set a good example for all
developing countries through resistance against illegal pressures,
to enable them to use nuclear technology to uplift the status of
their nations.
At the meeting,
both sides urged that in the present modern world, developing countries
need to take further measures immediately within the framework of
NAM.
