Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with the Cuban
Minister for Government and Head of Iran-Cuba Commission Ricardo
Cabrisas said that given the close relations between the governments
and nations of both countries, there are hopes that continuous exchange
of views will strengthen mutual ties.
A report released
by the Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday, quoting Mottaki,
said that given the common interests of the two states, cooperation
in uncovering the political nature of global hegemony in various
regions will be achieved through promoting common goals and strategies.
Mottaki added
that flourishing of the allied forces in Latin America has strengthened
the positions of pioneering nations and Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)
member states.
Expounding on
the capacities of Iran and Cuba to cooperate in Latin America, Africa
and the international scene, he pointed out that the two countries
have many potentials in the economic fields and common political
strategies in the global arenas.
Dismissing the
incorrect US policies on Afghanistan and Iraq, he said that what
is witnessed daily in these two countries reflects the increasing
concern of the public opinion of both states about the US and their
hatred towards them.
"The US
considers that it has the right to impose sanctions on third world
countries on account of their peaceful nuclear technology.
The US regime
intends to impose scientific apartheid against Iran," concluded
Mottaki.
For his part,
Cabrisas briefed the foreign minister on his country's policy in
supporting Iran and said that Cuban leaders and nation always support
the position of Iran's government with regard to its nuclear activities
for peaceful purposes.
The minister
expressed satisfaction over further cooperation in the domains of
transportation and agriculture and said that the common projects
currently being worked out are satisfactory.
Cabrisas called
for taking further measures to strengthen bilateral relations to
the interest of both sides.
